LUNA, Leroy, 76, of Manchester, passed away on Jan. 7, 2013 at Horizon Health and Rehab. Mr. Luna is survived by his wife, Dorothy David Luna; daughters, Cindy Howard and Kim Luna; stepdaughter, Lavonda Smith; sons James Robert Luna and Roger Lee Luna; stepsons Jeff Chandler and Anthony Finney; five grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Luna was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Luna; his sister, Clara Bell Morris; his brother, Bobby Joe Luna; and his parents, Roy and Ola Luna. SUMMARELL, Mary “Opal,” 101, Mt. Juliet, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Donelson Place Health and Rehab Center in Donelson. She was a native of Franklin County and a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville. The daughter of the late Walter Harvey Sisk and Myrtle Elizabeth Neal Sisk, she was married to Elmer Summarell, who preceded her in death in 1973. Ms. Summarell is survived by two grandchildren: Dana Delworth and her husband, John, of Nashville, and Kelly Keenan and her husband, Robert, of Mt. Juliet. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Terry Lambert, of Mt. Juliet, and Kate and Jane Delworth, both of Nashville. Along with her husband and parents, Ms. Summarell was preceded in death by one son: Gary D. Summarell, in 2000; and her daughter-in-law, Marie Sharp Summarell, in 2009. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Gowen-Smith Funeral Chapel in Shelbyville. CAUBLE, Retired Chief Master Sergeant J.T. “Jay,” 86, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at The Heart Remembers. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. today, Jan. 11, 2013 at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Dr. Kent Lewis and Rev. Glenn Forsee will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. today until service time. He was born July 6, 1926, in Salisbury, N.C. to the late James T. and Beulah Leonard Cauble. He was retired from the United States Air Force with 26 years of service. After the military, he worked for Converse Shoe Company for 17 years as a traffic manager. He was and avid golfer and a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Cauble. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ella Selke, of Shelbyville, whom he married in Bad Kissinger, Germany, during World War II; a daughter, Ella Marie Heaton, and her husband, Bob, of Jacksonville, Ark.; a son, James Thomas Cauble II, and his wife, Linda, of Shelbyville; two sisters, Marie Rogers, of Salisbury, N.C. and Peggy Canupe, and her husband, Bill, of Mt. Ulla, N.C.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Feldhaus Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
FLETCHER, Stephen Ronald, 69, of Shelbyville, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Fletcher was employed as a broadcast engineer for many years before his retirement. He was the husband of Carolyn Fletcher, of Shelbyville. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 at the First Assembly of God Shelbyville with the Rev. Glenn Forsee officiating. CARUSO, Dawn Marie, 47, of Manchester, formerly of Hammond, Ind., died on Monday Jan. 7, 2013 after losing her battle with cancer. Dawn was a loving and caring daughter and sister. She was born with disabilities but still proud she accomplished graduation from high school. She loved music and was often found with her earphones in listening to her favorite songs. SHORES, Evelyn, 80, of Harvey, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Ingalls Hospice. She was the wife of the late Edward Shores and the sister of M.J. Hill (Myrtle), and Irene Farris, all of Winchester. Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. BETTEZ, Gilbert Donat, 79, formerly of Tullahoma, passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2013. He was born on Jan. 18, 1933 in Warwick, R.I. to Noy and Alfreda Bettez. He was a graduate of West Warwick High School and a member of the Rhode Island High School Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Bettez was a retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sergeant, a longtime member of the PGA of America and a certified rules official for the PGA. He taught at the Franklin Golf Academy for 18 years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Richard Bettez. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Poss Bettez; a son, retired Col. Michael Bettez, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; two daughters, Vicki Simpson, of San Diego and retired Master Sgt. Margie Whitman, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Zephyrhills, Fla., and burial at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Parkinson’s Association and Alzheimer’s research.
EVANS, Margie B., 85, of Tullahoma, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Lynchburg Nursing Center. She was a native of Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Floy Baxter Evans. Mrs. Evans was a longtime member of the West End Baptist Church in Tullahoma and was retired from PCA in Manchester. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Deaton and Virginia; a brother, Vernon (Jean) Evans, all of Tullahoma; and special nieces and nephews, Randy, Dianne, Sherry and Gina. Visitation with the family was Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Tullahoma Funeral Home. CAMPBELL, Albert Norris, 92 of Belvidere, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Golden Living Center. He was a cattle farmer and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Preceding him in death were his parents, Albert C. Campbell and Mary Cassie Norris Campbell; his wife, Ruth Posey Campbell; his son, Joseph “Joey” Campbell; his daughter, Mary Cassie Campbell; his brothers, Ernest, Bob, Levi, Roy, Terrell and Woody; his sisters, Johnnie, Jimmie, Agatha and Cammie. Survivors include his son, A. C. “Ace” Campbell, of Belvidere; daughters, Debbie (Dwight) Amos, of Tullahoma, Donna Campbell Kelly, of Nashville, Tracy (Chris) Miller, of Tullahoma; brother, Ellis Campbell, of Talledega, Ala.; grandchildren, Justin Allen, Jennifer Holt, Jason Miller, Angela Johnson, Tanya McCallie and Matt Campbell; great-grandchildren, Brodie Allen, Jace and Gavin Johnson, Jackson Holt, Camille and Levi McCallie, Aleah Miller, Sawyer and Graham Campbell.
