PRESS RELEASE
Shang Studio announces the launch of Project 365 Vets dedicated to honoring a Veteran a day every day of the year.
Tullahoma, TN, December 3, 2012: http://365vets.wordpress.com Project 365 Vets will feature a different Veteran telling their story in their own words every day in 2012. The goal of the project is to raise awareness about issues many veterans face on a daily basis. Some of those issues include inadequate health care, physical disabilities, psychological disorders, unemployment, and homelessness.
Homelessness is a growing problem among veterans. “The Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) estimate that over 67,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, and over the course of a year. Only eight percent of the general population can claim veteran status, but nearly one-fifth of the homeless population are veterans. About 1.5 million other veterans, meanwhile, are considered at risk of homelessness due to poverty, lack of support networks, and dismal living conditions in overcrowded or substandard housing.” Source:(http://www.nchv.org/background.cfm)
The Project 365 Vets founder, Tina Shang said, “We cannot think of a better way to illustrate the issues faced by our veterans than through their stories. These are stories that are often difficult to tell, and even more difficult to hear, but they are stories that need to be told.” At Project 365 Vets, we believe that through these stories we can honor our veterans, promote awareness, and be a catalyst for change. These men and women are heroes, we are simply the curators of an amazing collection of stories they have been generous enough to share.
Project 365 Vets is currently seeking veterans to feature throughout the year. If you are interested in participating in the project our contact information is available online or you may call Tina Shang at 931-571-8675 for more information.
