Visiting Mt. Juliet cranked out 11 hits, jumped on Tullahoma early and spoiled the Wildcats’ Senior Night by taking a 6-3 win over THS on Friday at Grider Stadium.

The Golden Bears wasted little time putting runs up on the Grider scoreboard. Leadoff batter Cody Carr single and stole second base. After a Hunter Gilbert fly to right field, Carr scored on an RBI single by Zach Tompkins to give the Bears a 1-0 lead in the first.

Tullahoma (22-8) answered in the second inning after a single by Zack Lampkin led to a two-run homer by Justus Sheffield, putting THS ahead 2-1.

The Cats bats went silent for some five innings after that, however. Mt. Juliet added two runs in the second, one in the third and two more in the sixth to build a 6-2 lead.

Tullahoma, which had but three hits over the five-inning dry spell, finally broke the drought in the bottom of the seventh with a lone run when Jordan Sheffield scored on a wild pitch.

Other than that it was all Golden Bears as Tullahoma saw its five-game winning streak dating back to April 13 snapped.

Bradley Roepke started and worked 5 1/3 innings for the Cats. He took the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits. He struck out nine. Jordan Sheffield closed out the game for Tullahoma.

Tullahoma’s seven seniors — Cody Farr, Austin Creasman, Jesse Haywood, Brad Roepke, Sebastian Charboneau. Garrett Caldwell and Jordan Moore — were honored before the contest.

The Wildcats now settle in for the middle of four games in five days. Tullahoma was scheduled to play at Ooltewah on Saturday and will travel to Beech on Monday. The Wildcats close out the regular season with a trip to intra-county rival Coffee County Central on Tuesday night. The games Monday and Tuesday are set for 6 p.m. starts.
