A Franklin County woman, Mary E. Mason, 61, is being held under $1 million bond following a fatal shooting Thursday night outside her residence at 9321 Old Tullahoma Highway.
Eules D. Wimley, 71, of 1884 Post Oak Road, Belvidere, died after being shot multiple times, according to Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller.
He said deputies were called around 8:50 p.m. to a domestic dispute and when they arrived they found a man and woman standing in the yard.
“The man then collapsed from being shot,” Fuller said.
Mason was placed in the back of a patrol car for security reasons, he said, and deputies began to administer first aid to Wimley until medical personnel from Rural Metro Ambulance Service arrived. It was soon determined that the victim, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Wimley died at the scene at 9:20 p.m., Fuller said.
Mason was transported to the Franklin County Jail where she was charged with criminal homicide and bond set at $1 million. She is scheduled to appear in Franklin County General Sessions Court at 8 a.m. Monday, June 4.
Meanwhile, investigators from the sheriff’s department obtained a warrant to conduct a search of Mason’s residence.
The reason for the shooting is still being investigated.
