YOUTH BASEBALL: Tullahoma American 11-12 all-stars waiting in winner’s bracket finals

Tullahoma’s American League all-stars have advanced to the winner’s bracket finals of the District 8 Little League tournament for 11- 12-year-olds. Tullahoma American beat Tullahoma National League 11-2 on Sunday in Winchester.

Tullahoma American opened the tournament with an 11-5 win over Huntland on Friday. Nic Barstad pitched the first two innings to earn the win for Tullahoma AL.

They then beat Manchester National 8-6 on Saturday. Logan Buckner started and Will Mansfield worked the final four innings to earn the win. Kobe Burks had a home run.

On Sunday, Tullahoma American scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the second inning to build a 4-1 lead it would never relinquish. Tullahoma AL tacked on four more runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth inning.

Jonathan Liggett picked up the win. Burks and Barstad had two hits each for Tullahoma American, which finished with seven hits in the game.

Tullahoma National sent four pitchers to the hill, but starter Andrew Swain was saddled with the loss. Swain tried to help his own cause, as he hit a solo homer in the contest. But it was one of only four hits that Tullahoma National could muster.

Tullahoma National opened the tournament with an 18-3 win over Decherd. Sam Daugherty earned the win, while Matt Meadows went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and four RBIs. Kaysen Carter was 4-for-4 in the game.

On Saturday, Tullahoma NL blasted Manchester American 17-0. Forrest McCreary earned the win as Tullahoma National scored 12 runs in the third inning. McCreary had a home run and six RBIs in the game. Malik Braston hit two home runs.

Thursday’s championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. The ‘if necessary’ game is planned for 6 p.m. on Friday.
