The Community Playhouse has set auditions for its upcoming musical “South Pacific” for Jan. 12-14.
Adult auditions for ages 14 and above will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. Callbacks are at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Jan. 14.
Those auditioning for adult parts are asked to bring sheet music for a pianist (provided) or a background CD for accompaniment and should be prepared to sing only 16 measures of their song. Acapella auditions are discouraged.
Comfortable clothes and shoes that provide ease of movement are suggested for the auditions. Scripts will be provided for “cold readings” for those auditioning for speaking roles. There are multiple parts available for both men and women.
Children’s auditions for ages 6-12 will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. Callbacks will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14.
The children, as a group, will all be taught a song from the show. They will then be asked to sing a portion of the song either as a solo, or as a duet. They will not be auditioned with their own music. There are two parts for children in the show—one girl and one boy.
In addition to the adult singing cast and 2 children’s roles, there will also be a few extra walk-on parts, which could be either adults or children.
Auditions will be held at South Jackson Civic Center auditorium. Registration will open 1/2 hour before each audition time. Those wishing to audition are asked to come during that time in order to prepare for the audition.
Performance dates are set for April 5-7 and 12-14 at the South Jackson Civic Center. For more information call 931-455-0620 or go to the playhouse webpage: www.communityplayhouse.org.
