Men’s beauty products is not really something I discuss too often, as I’m not a male and most men I know are not known for their love of all things beauty.

I mean they are clean and shaven and their clothes are washed on a regular basis, but there are no special gels, tonics or other products that are being used to bring out their natural beauty. These fellas, such as my dad and boyfriend, are just naturally handsome, no products added. If only we could all claim the same, right?

However, I did convince the boyfriend to try some so-called “beauty products” recently. I had been made aware of a line of craft-brew infused and inspired products for men.

Yes, beer. That magical concoction that makes us all little more enjoyable and has been enjoyed by the masses for centuries, is now being included in beauty products.

It’s really not too much of a secret that beer has benefits other than those you drink. Its benefits for the skin include reducing acne, fighting signs of aging and increasing your skin’s moisture.

For the hair, beer is one of the best natural conditioners available to us and when used, it hydrates and can leave our locks shiny and soft.

When I read about Sarah and Brad Pearsall, founders and creators of BRÖÖ spa and salon products, I decided to take a closer look.

BRÖÖ is made with premium artisanal ingredients, namely handcrafted beer made in Asheville, North Carolina and costs only half the price of most salon and spa brand products. Most importantly, the products contain no sulfates, no silicones, no harsh preservatives and no added colors or dyes.

BRÖÖ appeals to both beer nuts and body care enthusiasts by offering products ranging from Volumizing Pale Ale Shampoo to Soothing Oatmeal Porter Body wash.

While they had me at Pale Ale Shampoo, I decided give put it to the true test and let the boyfriend check it out. A Head & Shoulders lifetime devotee, I figured he’d give the best possible, and most honest, feedback.

Along with the shampoo and conditioner, he tried the Shower Session Wash and Mug and Mane Lotion, both of which he gave a thumbs up, but said he’s still getting used to the smell of each one.

Like I said, he’s a creature of habit. I’m just amazed he stepped out of his comfort zone and tried something new. Of course, it did have beer in the title, so it wasn’t a total fight.

Being the one who likes to try almost everything, I gave the shampoo and conditioner a try. It’s important to point out that most of these products are for both men and women, so we all get to enjoy.

The Invigorating Shampoo and Conditioner are worthy of giving a whirl. Infused with peppermint, it energizes and tingles the scalp. There’s aloe to soothe and caffeine to wake up hair follicles. The conditioner contains a natural alternative to silicone for daily hair rehab. Add in a minty scent and overall, it’s pretty delightful.

To make it even more enticing to try, it’s available at mass retailers such as Wal-Mart and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg with price points around $7.12. That’s cheaper than a craft beer six pack, just saying.

Who says you can’t have your beer and it condition your hair too? Enjoy.
