Resurrection: A Journey Tribute will bring the music of Journey to Tullahoma once again, recreating the experience of a 1980s Journey concert.
The concert is one in a series of free events hosted by Tullahoma Parks and Recreation as part of its Rock Creek Concert Series, according to Kurt Glick, the director of parks and rec.
Tribute bands have been popular in Tullahoma, with UZoo, a U2 tribute band performing a free concert in July.
The concerts are made possible thanks to a partnership between parks and recreation and local sponsors, including Bud Light—L&H Distributing and Mid-South Distributing, according to Glick.
“The concerts are paid for by the city and by the sponsoring person, in this case L&H Distributing,” he said.
Another pop-rock tribute band, Live from Ventura Boulevard, had its May concert canceled due to a severe thunderstorm that passed through the city.
Resurrection: A Journey Tribute will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. in Frazier McEwen Park, located adjacent to Tullahoma High School.
Admission is free for all and attendees are encouraged to bring their blankets, lawn chairs and dancing spirit.
Cold drinks will be available for purchase courtesy of L&H Distributing. Food will also be available.
Coolers, however, will not be allowed, said Glick.
