Claire Fogarty, a fifth-grade student in Katie Cunningham’s class at Robert E. Lee Elementary School, is seeing her artwork on holiday greeting cards around town this year.

Fogarty’s design was selected by Tennova Healthcare – Harton officials to represent the hospital on its official 2017 Christmas card.

The hospital is one of the school’s several chamber CEO (Creating Educational Opportunities) partners.

All fifth-grade students were invited to submit artwork to the Harton contest.  Those who chose to participate were ideas and instructions, which included returning entries to their teachers prior to Thanksgiving break.

Once entries were received, the top five selections were scanned and distributed via email to hospital directors and managers, who were asked to vote for their top choice.  Entries were judged on neatness, creativity and visual attractiveness.

For her winning entry, Claire received a plaque and a $50 savings account at Traders National Bank. The bank is also a Robert E. Lee CEO partner.

Ryan Tenison, also from Cunningham’s class, took second place in the contest.  Jakob Clemmons from Rhonda Stevens’ class placed third.

Second- and third-place winners were each presented with a ribbon and a $10 Chick-fil-A gift card.

“We appreciate and enjoy our CEO partnership with Robert E. Lee Elementary School,” said CEO Rich Ellis. “All of the remaining entries which the students submitted will be used to brighten patient trays during the Christmas season.”
