The Tullahoma Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting its annual school picnic on Wednesday in front of Wilkins Stadium, and this year’s special guest speaker will be former University of Alabama and Philadelphia Eagles running back Siran Stacy.
This won’t be Stacy’s first trip to Tullahoma High School. In August 2013, he welcomed THS students back to school during an early-morning assembly.
Stacy was born and raised in southeast Alabama, starting his collegiate career at Coffeyville Junior College in Kansas. He then transferred to the University of Alabama from 1989-91 and was a second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1992.
Following his stint with the Eagles, he was drafted into the World Football League/NFL Europe in 1995 with The Scottish Claymores. He was the league’s MVP that season and all-time leading rusher.
After exiting the sports world, Stacy started working in the corporate field with mortgage companies. Along with working, he has a passion for ministry work. Stacy worked five years with the Bill Glass Prison Ministry, aimed at helping those in the penitentiary system. In 2009, Stacy became an ordained minister and since has traveled throughout the United States and five continents.
Wednesday’s event is open to all middle school and high school-aged students who would like to attend. Additionally, hamburgers and hot dogs will be served starting at 6:15 p.m.
