When it comes to the world of beauty, there might not be anything I love more than beauty hacks.
Life is crazy and between kids, work and everything else, making oneself extra glamorous is easier said than done.
Even if you’re not super bogged down, some of the beauty trends can be hard to master. So beauty hacks (tips) offer a rescue in helping achieve a certain look or get through the morning routine a little bit faster.
If you think about it, beauty hacks have probably been around for ages. I can imagine that Cleopatra needed a little help with the whole eye-liner thing and I know Queen Elizabeth didn’t curl her hair on her own.
So here are few of my favorites and some that have been recommended to me over the years. Enjoy, and here’s to looking good without all the fuss.
-Make your nail polish dry faster by soaking your nails in ice water after painting them. Fill a bowl with ice and water, and soak your nails for a few minutes after painting them. The cold water will set the paint and help your nails dry faster.
-Fix foundation stains with a little bit of shaving cream. If you take off your shirt and accidentally smudge your makeup on the collar, just wipe a dollop of shaving cream on the spot to pretreat it before tossing it in the wash.
-Use cold green tea bags to decrease puffiness under your eyes. The quickest way to de-puffing and tightening your under-eye skin is to apply a cold, caffeine-based product, like two cold green-tea bags, under your eyes for five or six minutes.
-Make a less pigmented eye shadow more vibrant by covering your eyelid with a white eyeliner first. This will help cancel out the color of your skin, creating a neutral base for the shadow and making the color pop.
-Apply Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your perfume to make the scent last longer. Since the ointment is occlusive, it will hold the fragrance on your skin longer than if you were to spray the perfume just onto your skin.
-No time to wash your hair and out of dry shampoo? Just put a hat on it. Done!
-Too lazy to wash your face at night? Keep face wipes by your bed.
-Mix a little peppermint oil into your lip gloss to give your lips a plumping boost.
-Use a white or light eyeliner to really make your eyes pop.
-Give yourself a healing foot treatment while you sleep. Apply peppermint moisturizer or Vaseline to your tired and cracked feet, and then throw on some comfy, cushioned socks. And head to bed. Wake up with soft, smooth feet.
