Dr. Marcus Lee

If you belong to the tightwads-r-us crowd (I have the card, awards plaque AND lifetime membership), you will be glad to know that you do not have to go to the doctor this spring with allergies.  Why?  It’s because there are some great over-the-counter medications that will dry up those snotty noses.

First, there are non-sedating antihistamines that are CHEAP.  Cetirizine and Fexofenadine are two of my favorites.  You may need to take the Cetirizine at night, but they are both very effective.  Some men with large prostates (OK, so that is just about all of us) will need to watch out for problems peeing.

Second, there are the nasal sprays.  Most seasonal allergies affect the nose and eyes.  Fluticasone nasal spray is a great choice for both.  You need one spray in each nostril every night.  You will notice a fantastic floral scent, but don’t miss a dose!  If you take fluticasone irregularly, it will not work well.

What if you have REALLY bad allergies?  Take the antihistamine and the nasal spray TOGETHER.  If that still doesn’t work, then feel free to see the good ol’ doc.  When in doubt, seek the doc out.  We also want you to remember that if you don’t see us today, you may be well tomorrow!  OK, I have run out of pithy sayings.  Have a great Spring Season!
