Tennessee Trails Association awarded an Evan Means Grant to the Friends of Tims Ford State Park on Sunday, Feb. 16, going towards the park’s Storybook Trail.

TTA established the Evan Means Grant program to honor Evan Means, one of the co-founders of Tennessee Trails Association, in 1968.  The Grant program is for trail-related volunteer projects on public land.  Applications can be found on the TTA website under “grants” found in the left column.  Please email completed applications to Joan Hartvigsen, jhartvigs@comcast.net, thirty days prior to the TTA Board Meeting.  The remaining TTA Board Meetings are scheduled for May 2, Aug. 1 and Oct. 25.

“The Storybook trail is a new trail we are working on that will have panels along the trail that are pages from a story book,” park ranger Destiny Adcox said. “People will be able to read the book while they walk the trail. This is geared more for children and will be good for school groups as there are also educational materials available. We will also have copies of the books available for sale in our gift shop.”

“We are currently hoping to have this project completed by this spring, and we will host a ribbon-cutting when that happens,” Adcox said.
