Harton Regional Medical Center has announced that it will offer extended time periods to assist residents with health insurance signups under the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace.

In the Marketplace, the enrollment period is from Nov. 15 through Feb. 15. Those seeking insurance may only purchase it outside of that time period under certain circumstances, such as a marriage, divorce, new baby, or change of income.

All health plans on the Marketplace must offer a comprehensive set of benefits, and individuals cannot be denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition. Some of the health benefits include preventive care and wellness services, doctor visits, prescription drugs, hospital and emergency department care, lab services, pediatric services – and more.

There are four levels of qualified health plans on the Health Insurance Marketplace: platinum, gold, silver, and bronze. Each category has a different monthly premium costs, as well as deductible. There are a lot of affordable options on the Health Insurance Marketplace and you can compare each plan side by side so you can find the plan that meets you and/or your family’s needs.

“As a community leader, we want to help residents learn about and enroll in health insurance options on the Health insurance Marketplace at a time that is convenient for them,” said Shaun Adams, HRMC CFO.

“In addition to having the ability to call and make an appointment with one of our application counselors, residents can attend one of our extended hours or Saturday events for help. If we find that additional open events are needed, those will be established and publicized.”

Harton Regional extended hour events are currently set for: Nov. 25; Dec. 4, 13 17; Jan. 9, 12 and 24; and Feb. 4 and 14. To make an appointment with one of Harton’s application counselors, call 931-393-7826 or simply attend one of the extended hours events scheduled.
