Short Springs State Natural Area in Tullahoma is holding three wildflower hikes as part of Natural Areas Spring Celebration Week.

Two hikes as planned for Sunday, April 12. Brian Bowen, administrator of State Natural Areas, will lead a 10 a.m. hike assisted by Don Davidson.

At 2 p.m. on April 12 Dennis Horn, co-editor of “Wildflowers of Tennessee, the Ohio Valley and the Southern Appalachians,” will lead a hike assisted by Ann Cline.

At 11 a.m, on Saturday, April 18, Stephanie Williams, ecologist with Tennessee Division of Natural Areas, will lead a 4.5-mile hike on all parts of the Short Springs Natural Area.

The hike will begin by picking up trash, then move on to Busby Falls, Adams Falls, Machine Falls Loop Trails and Laurel Bluff Trail, again picking up trash along the way.

These trails have up and down terrain, creek crossings and waterfalls which will provide varied scenery and wildflowers.

Hikers are advised to wear sturdy boots and bring water, gloves and lunch.

Trash bags and a truck will be provided to haul out the trash.
