Tullahoma will be participating in the 2nd annual Tennessee Songwriters Week, according to Area Economic Development Board member Beverly Lee. The event will be Feb. 23 – 29.
Whiskey Trail BBQ & Steakhouse will be one of the 39 hosts throughout the state, showcasing song-writers during the first qualifying round. The event takes place on Friday, Feb. 14th. Sign-ups have been extended to enter at Whiskey Trail by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, phone number and song title.
In celebration of the craft of songwriting, Tennessee is recognizing past and present songwriters and paving the way for future artists by holding live performances throughout the state. Songwriters can perform in the official qualifying rounds by registering with one of the 39 venues participating all over the state. The winners are chosen by a panel of local judges and music industry professionals.
After the qualifying round, winning songwriters from each round will perform at one of the Tennessee Songwriters Week Showcase events, happening in Franklin, Memphis, Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Johnson City and Chattanooga. Tullahoma’s winner will be sent to the showcase event at Songbirds Guitar Museum in Chattanooga on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
Each showcase event will hail one winner and the six finalists will then perform at The Bluebird Cafe on Sunday, March 29 in front of music industry representatives.
Last year, more than 100 songwriters performed across the state during the first Songwriters Week.
