Bites of Europe restaurant, 1306 Hillsboro Blvd, Manchester, now offers art classes.
The events – dubbed Sip and Paint – will be held every other Wednesday, and the first one was Wednesday, June 5, with the next set for June 19.
More than 10 lovers of art enjoyed the first event.
Lisa Diaz-Barriga, of Manchester, was one of the participants.
“It’s been fantastic,” she said. “Everything, from the great food - Quiche Lorraine and Caprese – to the wine and bier to the painting, has been fabulous.”
Bella Greenwood, co-owner of Bites of Europe, came up with the idea to launch Sip and Paint because she enjoyed similar events in Bulgaria – her home country.
“I am new to art,” Greenwood said. “I started going to art classes in Bulgaria – they have a very similar idea there. So I started doing this and I loved it. It’s fun, it’s stress relief, and you express yourself. You meet new people and enjoy wine. It’s a fun night. I wanted to do it here in America. It will be a marvelous thing for Manchester.”
Gale Christopher was the instructor for the first class. The upcoming classes will be led by Greenwood as well as other guest art instructors.
The classes will be held every other Wednesday, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The cost is $30 and the fee covers all supplies, light snacks and a glass of wine or beer.
“Everything is provided, including easels, the paint, the canvases and brushes,” Greenwood said. “That also includes a glass of wine and light snacks. Just sip and paint.”
Each Sip and Paint event will last about 2 hours.
“It will be in the main hall of the restaurant,” Greenwood said. “The restaurant will still be open but there will be a dedicated spot for us. We can accommodate about 20 artists.”
