Sara Edwards, a postal worker for The United States Post Office (USPS) in Tullahoma, received the opportunity of a lifetime in September when she was flown out to Los Angeles to film a commercial for the company’s upcoming holiday campaign.
Edwards lives in Winchester and has worked for USPS for a little over two years. After her boss announced that USPS was holding a casting call for the campaign, Edwards submitted an audition tape. Two months later, she got a call on Sunday from USPS, informing her that she would be flying out to Los Angeles the following day. “It was a huge surprise because July 26th was the deadline to send in audition tapes, and it had been over a month since then,” Edward said. “I figured that they just didn’t choose me.”
The casting call was nationwide, with only six making the cut, including Edwards.
She flew out to Los Angeles Monday and arrived that evening. On Tuesday, she went to a fitting, where the crew chose the uniform they wanted her to wear during her scene.
“We filmed on Wednesday in a place called Canoga Park,” Edwards said. “It was absolutely beautiful there.”
Edwards spent about six hours filming her scene. “I had the full Hollywood experience,” she said. “They put me on a bus and did my hair and makeup. They made me feel like a star.”
During her trip, Edwards was able to go see the Hollywood sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also explored Malibu and Santa Monica.
“I had never been to California before. It was my first time on an airplane. For a small town girl like me, this was a grand experience,” Edwards said.
The commercial is set to air in November, according to Edwards, where she can be seen delivering a package to a customer.
