New plans have been announced for the relocation of Hibbett Sports in Northgate Mall, moving from its current indoor location to an outdoor storefront right next to Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store.
This plan includes the removal of the courtyard near the entrance of the mall’s office to make way for the new Hibbett Sports store location.
“The plan is to fill in the area of the court yard in the front of the mall and remove the indoor miniature golf course,” Planning and Codes Director Lee Lawson said. “The purpose is to create a retail space similar to the Jo-Ann space for Hibbett Sports.”
“The courtyard will be done away with, and the area will be the front portion of the Hibbett Sports store,” Lawson said. “The Hibbett Sports will extend from the new front wall at the walkway where the courtyard fronts now to the back wall of the mall building. There will not be an inside connection to the indoor mall area from the new Hibbett Sports.”
There is no official word yet on what the other plans for the indoor stores at Northgate Mall are at this time.
“Tullahoma is the regional center for shopping, dining and entertainment, as our healthy year-over-year growth in sales tax revenue demonstrates, and we welcome projects like this that keep Tullahoma an attractive and vibrant shopping destination,” City Administrator Jennifer Moody said. “We hope this is just the beginning of more improvements to come for the North Jackson corridor.”
