Major League honor, Sheffield has jersey retired

At halftime of Tuesday night's girls basketball game, Tullahoma High School honored Justus Sheffield during a ceremony. Wildcats baseball officially retired Sheffield's No. 42 jersey that he wore when he played for Tullahoma. Sheffield is a 2014 THS graduate and was the Gatorade National High School Baseball Player of the Year his senior season. Sheffield was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft. After being traded to the New York Yankees, Sheffield made his major league debut with the Yankees in September of 2018, closing out a game against the Boston Red Sox. Before the 2019 season, Sheffield was traded to and is currently a member of the Seattle Mariners organization.
