A Murfreesboro man is dead and his teen-age passenger in critical condition after his motorcycle careened down an embankment and struck a tree Sunday.

According to highway patrol reports, the accident happened minutes after noon Sunday just outside the Manchester city limits on Murfreesboro Highway when the cycle operated by Jesse McWorter, 65, left the roadway after he was unable to negotiate a curve. His Harley Davidson three-wheeler then ran over an embankment and hit a tree, before rolling to the bottom of the gulley where it came to rest.

McWorter was fatally injured in the crash while his 17-year-old female passenger was airlifted from the scene of the accident for treatment.
