The Coffee County Board of Education will not be extending the contract of Director of Schools LaDonna McFall, Ph.D. The move follows McFall’s announcement late last month that she no longer wished to continue in her position at Coffee County Schools.

McFall and board members had agreed March 14 to open contract negotiations within a matter of weeks. At that meeting, McFall told the board she was interested in extending her contract if the board climate changed; but also confirmed she was still seeking other employment opportunities.

Contract negotiations were set to begin on April 1; but in late March, McFall changed her position. An email she sent to Coffee County School Board Chairman Brent Henley stated she no longer wished to extend her contract.

McFall confirmed her decision at the April 1 school board work session, telling the board “I no longer wish to talk about an extension.”

With McFall’s decision confirmed on public record, the board took no action to negotiate her contract.

McFall has served at the helm of Coffee County Schools for seven years.  Her term as director of schools will come to a close with the June 2020 end of her existing contract.

McFall is currently in the running to become Roane County’s director of schools. The second round of interviews for this position take place today, Wednesday, April 3.
