Tullahoma police foiled a home invasion when they arrived on Oakwood Road to find the suspect still there.

Jason Tipps, 42, is charged with aggravated burglary, simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public intoxication.

Tipps was found outside the residence when police arrived to answer the call that someone was breaking into the home. When asked what was going on, Tipps was candid. “He said ‘you just walked up on a home invasion’,” the police report reads.

With that, Tipps turned around and started walking away while also reaching into his pocket. “He was given verbal commands to stop and show his hands,” the report continues, noting he ignored the order.

At that point police hit him with a Taser, disabling him long enough to place him into custody.

Police later determined that Tipps broke into the nearby home and attempted to assault one of the residents. An investigation revealed that the front door of the residence had been forced open, supporting the claims of the victims.
