Sasha Payton and Tyler Carter have been detained in relation to a homicide in Coffee County, according Sgt. Laura Nettles with Coffee County Sheriff’s Department.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call Dec. 30 at the Lakewood Park area in Coffee County.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a white male dead in a camper. The sheriff’s department released the name of the victim Dec. 31, after family members had been notified.
The victim was Johnny Tesar, 68.
The sheriff’s department responded to a call Dec. 30 at Birch Lane for a welfare check at the request of family members, according to Coffee County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chief Frank Watkins.
Deputies arrived on the scene and found Tesar deceased inside the residence.
“It was obviously a homicide,” Watkins said.
Coffee County District Attorney Craig Northcott and officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol also provided assistance Dec. 30.
On the following day, Dec. 31, Payton and Carter were detained in relation to the case.
The investigation is still ongoing, said Watkins.
“We hope to have a closure soon,” Watkins said.
