Aubrey Doss Jarratt Jr., 98, of Tullahoma, passed this life on Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 at his home at the age of 98. Mr. Jarratt was born in Murfreesboro to the late Aubrey Jarratt Sr. and Octavia Ridley Jarratt. He served his country as a Naval Pilot during World War II and went on to be a commercial pilot as well. Mr. Jarratt also worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory before moving to Tullahoma in 1957. He then worked as a mechanical engineer for ETF until his retirement and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jarratt was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Jarratt; one son, John Jarratt; one grandson, Jason Jarratt; and one brother, Justin Jarratt. He is survived by his son, Steven Jarratt and his wife Debbie of Tullahoma; one grandson, Joe Jarratt of Knoxville; two granddaughters, Shannon Kirkpatrick and her husband Randy of Jasper, and Holly Wiggs and her husband Daniel of Estill Springs; and three great-grandchildren, Weston Lee Kirkpatrick, Makayla Kirkpatrick, and Scout Wiggs. Visitation for Mr. Jarratt will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at Kilgore Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Glenn “BI” Staples, 61, of Tullahoma passed Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was the son of the late George H and Annie Laura Staples. BI was loved by many that knew him. He never met a stranger. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Tullahoma where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was employed as a Crossing Guard and dispatcher of the Tullahoma Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Malcolm Staples. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Staples; daughter, Eccho Staples; granddaughter, Emilianna Staples, mother-in-law, Beverly "Rabbit" Vance; four brothers, Lemuel P., Roger, Carlton and Derrick Staples; four sisters, Dorothy (Victor) Iredu, Lena Woods, Shelia (James) Brown, and Gwendolyn (Brad) Martin; three sisters-in-law, Victoria Butler, Jackie (Roy) Hardin and Delphene (Chris) Price; five brothers-in-law, Quay Vance, Jeff (Michelle) Vance, Joel (Sharon) Vance, Jerry (Ellie) Vance and Jerome (Jackey) Vance; aunt, Barbara "Chick" Estill and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mrs. Wood passed from this life at her residence on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019. Karen was born in Knoxville to the late Otha and Jean Smelser. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
