Milton Willard Davis, 93, was born April 3, 1926 in Walsenburg, Colorado. After graduation from high school at age 16, Milton decided to strike out on his own. He applied for and got his first job as an Under Aircraft Model maker with NACA (later known as NASA) in Langley, Virginia. It was in this job he was introduced to wind tunnels from which he developed an insatiable desire to work with and among engineers designing, developing and operating wind tunnels. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and became a pilot candidate in the V-5 and V-12 programs. While in those programs he was sent to Georgia Institute of Technology and ultimately obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering in 1948 finishing under the GI Bill. In 1946, Milton met Valerie Beaube at a USO dance in Atlanta and later that year he married her. He was separated from the Navy in 1947 and was honorably discharged from the Navy Reserves in 1959. Milton and Valerie had four children between the years 1948 and 1955. Most of his professional life he spent at the Arnold Engineering Development Center working with wind tunnels to develop modern military aircraft. In 2006, he was selected as an AEDC Fellow for his excellence in wind tunnel design, development, and operation. He was a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics for more than 50 years. Milton was also a member of the Tullahoma Optimist Club until the club became inactive. He then became an active member of the Kiwanis Club for over 25 years until January of 2019 when he retired from the Club. While in Kiwanis, Milton loved to work with the Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration and Christmas Tree sales. Milton was a member of the First Christian Church in Tullahoma for more than 60 years becoming an Elder and was ultimately elected as an Elder Emeritus. Relatives: Father: Arthur L.
