BROWN, Hershell Ray, 69, of Decherd, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at Willows of Winchester. Visitation was 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. DAVIS, Melvin Edford, 57, of Wartrace, departed this life Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Tennova Healthcare – Harton following an extended illness. Mr. Davis was born in Nashville to the late Murate Edford Davis and Betty Long Davis on Sept. 1, 1961. He was a 1979 graduate of Tullahoma High School. Mr. Davis was employed for many years as a welder. He was employed at Stanley Tools in Shelbyville for approximately 14 years as a tool grinder. He was then employed by DirecTV and Charter Cable as an installer before becoming disabled. His hobbies were playing poker and billiards. Mr. Davis’ favorite sport was deer hunting. He was a loving and devoted brother and father. He is survived by his sons Jeremy Davis and wife, Stephanie of Estill Springs, Joshua Davis of Alamogordo, New Mexico; sister, Terri Alford and husband, Davy of Wartrace; a very special friend, Antonia Goodbuffalo and several cousins. FERRELL, Staff Sargent Morris Major, retired, 74, of Tullahoma, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the First Church of Jesus Christ of Tullahoma. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A native of Coffee County, he was the son of the late Floyd Edward and Gertrude Comer Ferrell and the husband of Mary Frances Ferrell, who survives. He was a veteran of 34 years of service in the United States Army and the Tennessee National Guard, serving during the Vietnam War era and as a Nike Missile Program technician. He worked as a HVAC mechanic for the Tullahoma City School System and as an HVAC instructor at the Shelbyville Technical School. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the End Time Mission Church of Jesus Christ in Estill Springs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Eva Doris Adams and brother Edward Ferrell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Frances Hastings Ferrell, of Tullahoma; his brother, Berlin Ferrell of Moore County; sons, Richard Ferrell and fiancé Angela Hanley of Tullahoma, and Brian Ferrell and wife Vanessa of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Richard Gaige Ferrell, Kayla Madison Ferrell, Collin Major Ferrell and Macy Noelle Ferrell, and three great-grandchildren: Zay-lee Ferrell Titan Griffith and Kyzer Griffith. OWEN, Virgil Malone “John,” 88, of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at Manchester Healthcare Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Concord Cemetery with full military honors. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. John was born in Bradyville to the late Virgil Malone Owen Sr. and Mamie Parker Owen. He was a United States Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War. Mr. Owen was a member of New Union Church of Christ and was very active at the Coffee County Senior Citizen Center. In former years, he was a precision die cutter for Skyline Manufacturing Tool & Die. He enjoyed woodworking, camping for summer vacations and bluegrass music. John’s children remember always seeing his head under a car hood fixing something when they were growing up. John was a loving husband of 54 years, father, Pa and friend to the community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Scott Owen; brothers, Tony Owen and Charles Owen; sister, Eva Owen Holt. WARMBROD, William Mac, 73, of Decherd, passed away suddenly Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at his residence. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church with a memorial service following at 5 p.m. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
