After a rough start to Saturday, Tullahoma got into the win column before the Pat Welsh Day of Duals concluded at Tullahoma High School, opening the new season with a 1-2 record.
The Wildcats opened their season with a 76-6 loss to Baylor School, before following that a 53-21 loss to Wilson Central. Tullahoma wrapped up its day by taking down Clarksville 42-7.
Against Baylor, Tullahoma scored just one win, which came after Cal Rogers (120) landed a second-round pinfall over Jacob Weekly.
Tullahoma managed four wins against Wilson Central, first when John Smith (170) narrowly picking up a 12-10 decision over Brady Jarvis. Brian Nelms (182) followed with a second-round pinfall over Matthew Hills. Jimmy Pearson (220) and Dallen Nunley (113) both won their matches by forfeit.
Against Clarksville, Tullahoma won the majority of its matches by forfeit, as the Wildcats went unopposed in seven matches. Hayden Malone (106), Nunley, Rogers, Rhett Birdsong (132), Hunter Parks (195), Pearson and Tydrell Mitchell (285) all won their respective matches by forfeit.
Clarksville won the remaining bouts, all in competition, all but one of which came by pinfall. Trinton Partin (170) was the lone Wildcat who didn’t get pinned, losing a 12-5 decision to Gabriel Smith.
Tullahoma is scheduled to host the Garner-Dyer Invitational on Saturday. Matches are scheduled to get underway at 8:15 a.m.
