Nia Sheffield buried an early 3-pointer to give West an early edge and from there, the Lady Bobcats never relinquished that lead, running away with a 45-15 win over East at Tullahoma High School on Thursday.

East was limited to just one field goal in the first quarter, which came after Tiona Harden hit a basket with 4:10 remaining in the opening period. After Sheffield hit her 3, Baylee Buchanan added a basket, before Bailey Trussell hit a pair of 3-pointers, giving West an 11-2 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Trussell knocked down two more 3s in the second period, scoring all six of the Lady Bobcats’ points in the period. Nyjah Gibbs and Addie Snipes each added a basket for East in the second quarter, and the Lady Panthers trailed 17-6 heading into halftime.

Snipes and Gibbs again did the scoring for East in the third quarter, each knocking down a shot for the Lady Panthers. Lucy Nutt and Morgan Carr took over scoring for West in the third period, combining for nine points, as the Lady Bobcats led 26-10 heading into the final quarter. Nutt put up six points, including burying a 3-pointer, while Carr added three points in the period.

K.K. Sims led West in scoring in the fourth quarter, netting six points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Trinity Goon and Rachel Ferguson each added four points in the period for the Lady Bobcats. Nutt put up three points, while Sheffield added a final basket for West.

Katelyn Daniels scored three points for East in the final quarter, before Emeri Saunders added a pair of free throws for the Lady Panthers’ final points.

Gibbs and Snipes led East in scoring on the night, each putting up four points. Daniels scored three points, while Saunders and Harden each scored two.

Trussell led West in scoring, netting 12 points in the victory. Nutt added nine points of her own, while Sheffield and Sims both finished with five points on the night. Goon and Ferguson added four points, while Carr rounded out the scoring for the Lady Bobcats with three.

Both teams are slated to take part in the Central Tennessee Conference Tournament, which is scheduled to open on Monday at Tullahoma High School. As of press time, the bracket for that tournament was unavailable.

Before facing West, East was coming off of a 30-20 home win over Harris on Tuesday. Daniels led the Lady Panthers in scoring on the night, putting up 10 points in the victory.

Eleanor Fults added eight points in the win for East. Snipes scored five points, Audrey Todaro added three points, while Saunders and Gibbs rounded out the scoring for the Lady Panthers each with two points.
