Despite keeping things close for the majority of Tuesday’s contest, Tullahoma couldn’t quite find a way to rally. The Lady Wildcats fell to 0-6 on the season after losing to White County at home 62-45.
With 2:07 left in the third quarter, Macey Bowman knocked down a basket for Tullahoma, cutting the score to 40-33. That was the closest the Lady Wildcats got from that point, as White County dominated the final quarter in the victory.
Tullahoma was scheduled to open District 8-AAA play on Thursday when it hosted Shelbyville. However, as of press time, the result of that game was unavailable.
The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to travel to Warren County on Friday night. Tipoff of the girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
White County grabbed the early edge on Tuesday, splashing home a 3-pointer, but Tullahoma answered with a bucket of its own. McKenna Buckner drilled a 3 for the Lady Wildcats to even up the score.
However, White County put together a 9-0 run, leading 12-3 with 3:45 remaining in the first period. Bowman put up four points in the remainder of the opening quarter, before Buckner followed with another 3 and Ty Hardin added a basket, as Tullahoma trailed 20-12 at the end of the first period.
With 2:38 left in the second quarter, Mia Murray put up a basket for White County, to put her team up 29-17. However, Julia Duncan put up a basket for Tullahoma, before Jessica Edde added a pair of free throws, and the Lady Wildcats trailed 29-21 heading into halftime.
Tullahoma attempted to cut into its deficit, and with 6:28 remaining in the third quarter, The Lady Wildcats trialed 31-25 after Duncan sank a basket. White County answered with a 7-4 run, opening up a 38-29 advantage with 3:24 left in the period.
Buckner added a pair of free throws, while Bowman and Duncan each hit baskets before the period ended, as Tullahoma trailed 44-35 heading into the fourth quarter.
Bowman hit an early free throw for Tullahoma, but White County went on a 13-1 run, totally taking control of the contest in the final quarter. Kanden Reeves made a pair of free throws with 3:01 remaining in the contest, giving the Lady Warriors a commanding 57-36 advantage.
Bowman added four more points for the Lady Wildcats, while Robin Smedley and Edde each added two points in the period. Duncan added a free throw for Tullahoma in the fourth quarter.
Bowman led Tullahoma in scoring on the night, putting up 13 points. Buckner finished with eight points, while Duncan added seven pints.
Edde and Hardin each put up six points. Charleigh Scott added three points, while Smedley rounded out the scoring for the Lady Wildcats with two points.
