With the top two shooters during the District 8 Tournament in Lawrenceburg on Monday, the Tullahoma High School girls golf team assured itself to be playing for a Region 4 Title come next week.

The Lady Wildcats claimed the district title, combining to put up a total score of 147 on Monday at Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club. Ashley Gilliam led all golfers on the girls side, while her teammate, Mallory TeVrucht, finished second individually.

While the Lady Wildcats locked up a region spot, so did the THS boys team. The Wildcats finished second over at the district tournament in Lawrenceburg, with an overall score of 311.

The Region 4-AAA tournament will take place this coming Monday at Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro with start time scheduled for 9 a.m.

During the district tournament, Gilliam started off hot for the Lady Wildcats, putting up a 34 during the first nine holes, and totaling a score of 72 on the day to lead all golfers. Mallory added a total score of 75 to finish second individually, including putting up a 36 during the first nine holes.

Ava Catherine Banks also shot for Tullahoma, putting up a 93 on the day. However, her score did not factor into the Lady Wildcats’ final score. In high school girls golf, the top two scorers determine a team’s overall tally.

On the boys side, Tullahoma was led by Jacob Uehlein and Hayden Blair. Uehlein tied for first in individual score, putting up a 72, but lost a playoff, taking second place. Blair carded a 73 on the day to take third individually during the tournament.

Andrew Cardosi added an 82 for the Wildcats, while Jared TeVrucht scored an 84. Mason TeVrucht added a 94, but his score did not count in Tullahoma’s final tally. In high school boys golf, the top four scorers determine a team’s overall total.
