The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2019 All-Conference awards for women’s soccer, as 10 Maryville College Scots earned league accolades.
Maryville College’s Shannon Reagan was named Player of the Year while her coach, Pepe Fernandez, earned Coach of the Year honors.
Reagan, a senior forward from Tullahoma, becomes the second consecutive Scot to be named player of the year and the fourth since Maryville joined the USA South in 2012. For the season, Reagan currently leads the Conference with 47 points and 19 goals to go along with nine assists which is tied for the League-lead. Against USA South competition this year, Reagan was atop each offensive category with 25 points on 14 goals and seven assists. For her efforts this season, Reagan was named First Team All-Conference, as well as First Team West Division as a forward. This is the third season she has appeared on the All-Conference list. Finally, she was selected as USA South Player of the Week twice this fall.
“I am extremely happy for Shannon,” stated Coach Fernandez. “Her goal scoring ability was evident but her assist totals shows everyone what an unselfish player she is. She has been one of the most dynamic players we have seen all year long.”
Reagan registered Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Soccer weekly honors, posting four goals with one assist in a pair of outings for the Scots. This is the third time this year that she had received the honor from the TSWA, as she previously got honored on Sept. 17 and Oct. 16.
Reagan scored twice in the first half versus LaGrange College, in the sixth-minute on an assist from Lexi Hill and unassisted in the 25th minute. The senior added another goal from Hill in the 48th minute and the duo hooked up again in the 52nd minute. She assisted on an Alyssa Kral goal in the 20th minute.
