Lizzy Sharpton holds up her first-place certificate and ribbon after taking the top spot in Manchester last Wednesday. 

For the second straight time, Lizzy Sharpton topped the elementary girls’ racers during the Coffee County Elementary Cross-Country Race League's last meet last Wednesday at the Manchester Soccer Complex.

Lizzy, who goes to Farrah Elementary, previously took first place during the league’s first race at the same location back on Aug. 29. During that race, Lizzy clocked in at 6 minutes and 51.4 seconds.

This past Wednesday, she was able to shave nearly 30 seconds off her time. Lizzy finished this last race with an overall time of 6:26.2.

In the Coffee County Elementary League, there are a total of 10 schools represented. Listed below is the remainder of the top 10 finishers on the girls’ side.

College Street’s Jada Nagel placed second with a time of 6:44.4. New Union’s Jaydee Nogodula took third at 6:57.8, while teammate Chloe Hensiek finished fourth at 7:01. Rounding out the top five placers was Westwood’s Reece Finch, who timed at 7:09.01.

New Union’s Allie Judge placed sixth at 7:14.2. College Street’s Laurae Martinez took seventh at 7:14.2. Farrar’s Genia Stephens took eighth at 7:15.2. New Union’s Jenslee Nogodula placed ninth at 7:15.5. North Coffee’s Bella VanZandergen rounded out the top 10 runners, finishing with a time of 7:20.

The boys’ race also featured a repeat first-place finisher, as Westwood’s Ricardo Solorio once again took the top spot last Wednesday. On Aug. 29, Ricardo finished his race with a time of 6:24.2.

This time, Ricardo was able to shave 11 seconds from his finishing time. On Wednesday, he clocked in at 6:11.5.

College Street’s Ty Deaton placed second with a time of 6:13.8. Westwood’s Brady Christian took third at 6:15, while teammate Joan Deanda finished fourth at 6:31.4. East Coffee’s Ethan Reed took fifth at 6:31.6.

Farrar’s Jonah Vallejos placed sixth at 6:32. Westwood’s Aiden Walker finished seventh at 6:35.2. New Union’s Myles McIntosh placed eighth at 6:36.2. Farrar’s Payton Behrendorff finished ninth at 6:39. New Union’s Easton Hinson rounded out the top 10 performers with a time of 6:47.3.
