After opening its season with a tournament in Lawrenceburg last week, both Tullahoma teams hosted their first matches of the season on Tuesday, facing Franklin County in a nine-hole matchup.
The Lady Wildcats led off the home portion of their schedule with a win at Lakewood Golf & Country Club on Tuesday, downing Franklin County 87-141. The Tullahoma boys team tied with the Rebels, as each team shot a 185.
On the girls side, Tullahoma was led by Mallory TeVrucht, who carded a 39 in the nine-hole contest. Grae Hicks added a 48 for the Lady Wildcats.
In high school girls golf, the top two scorers determine the team’s overall scores. Ava Catherine Banks also shot a 50 for Tullahoma, however, her score did not go into the Lady Wildcats’ final tally.
Maelee Philpot led Franklin County by putting up a 64. Bailey McClain added a 77 for the Rebelettes.
On the boys side, Tullahoma was led by Andrew Cardosi who carded a 40 on the day. Sebi Aguirre added a 43, while Chase Wiley carded a 48 and Isaac Lynch put up a 54.
Franklin County was led by Nathan Calahan who scored a 38. Hayden Curl followed with a 40 for the Rebels, while Jack Curtis put up a 42 and Davis Hammond rounded out the scoring with a 62.
On Thursday, Tullahoma and Franklin County again faced off in a nine-h0le matchup at The Bear Trace at Tims Ford Lake. This time, the Rebels defeated the Wildcats 182-187. The THS girls did not face an opponent, but combined to card an 83.
Cardosi once again led the Tullahoma boys, putting up a 41 on Thursday. Aguirre added a 43, while Wiley carded a 50 and Lynch scored a 53.
Calahan and Curl led Franklin County, each carding a 39. Curtis added a 40 Rebels, while Hammond scored a 64.
On the girls side, Tullahoma was led by TeVrucht who scored a 39. Banks added a 44 for the Lady Wildcats. Hicks then scored a 46, however, her score did not go into the Lady Wildcats’ final tally.
Both Tullahoma teams will stay busy this coming week. On Monday, the THS teams are scheduled to take part in the Cookeville Invitational at Cookeville Country Club. Start time for the 18-hole tournament is slated for 9 a.m.
On Tuesday, Tullahoma will travel to face Shelbyville for a nine-hole matchup at Riverbend Country Club. Tee Time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
