Seven Tullahoma Middle School runners earned their chance to compete at the state meet based on their performances on Saturday morning during the MSCCA Championship at Brainerd High School.
As a team, the TMS girls’ squad finished third overall in the team standings on the day. All five of the individual runners for the Lady Wildcats earned a spot at state.
In the team standings, the TMS girls’ team put up 72 points on the day. Csthea Homeschool took first place with 18 points, while Chattanooga Christian also put up 72 points, but finished second in the standings.
Lexi Lester led the Lady Wildcats with a 12th place effort on Saturday morning. She finished her 2-mile run with a time of 13 minutes and 48 seconds.
Teammate Jordyn Spry finished in 16th, clocking in at 14:13. Sarah Eakin placed 20th with a time of 14:27. Madi Brown followed in 28th, crossing the finish line at 15:16. Isabella Rivera rounded out the runners for the TMS girls’ team, taking 44th and finishing with a time of 17:40.
Tullahoma also saw two boys compete at state, both qualifying for the state meet. Brycen Campbell led the Wildcat runners. During his 2-mile run, Campbell crossed the finish line in 28th with a time of 13:10.
Teammate Jonas Carter also ran during the race, taking 66th overall. Carter clocked in during his run at 15:59.
The Tennessee State Middle School Cross-Country Championships will take place this Saturday at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville. Races are scheduled to get underway at 8 a.m. Eastern Time.
