Entering halftime at Lead Academy on Tuesday, Tullahoma found itself in a 1-0 hole. However, that quickly changed in the second half, as the Wildcats answered with three-straight goals, going on to capture a 3-2 victory to start the new season.

Tom Ellis, Brennan Buckner and Griffin Basham all broke into the scoring column for Tullahoma. Ellis also had two assists for the Wildcats, while Charles Roberts added another assist.

The majority of the second half, Tullahoma was also forced to play a man down, after Jose Leyva-Solorio received a red card. With the red card, Leyva-Solorio also has to miss the Wildcats’ next matchup.

Ty Cox helped get the scoring started on the first goal, hitting Roberts with a pass. From there, Roberts was able to get the ball to Ellis, who connected for the Wildcats’ first goal of the year, evening the match at 1.

Ellis was involved in the next two scores as well. On a breakaway, Ellis connected with Buckner, who capitalized, scoring to put the Wildcats in front 2-1.

Garrett Falk started the third scoring run for Tullahoma, hitting Ellis on a pass. From there, Ellis was able to find Basham, who put up the Wildcats’ final goal of the contest, giving his team a 3-1 advantage.

Following Tuesday’s win, the Wildcats were scheduled to enter District 11-AA play on Thursday when it hosted Marshall County. However, that game has been postponed and as of press time, a makeup date had yet to be announced.

Tullahoma (1-0) will next step out of district play when it heads to White County on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
