After losing a tough and gritty 2-0 district match at Nolensville on Friday, Tullahoma rebounded and dominated in an 8-1 victory at home over Community on Monday night.
In the first half on Monday, Tullahoma led 4-1 and Tom Ellis had put up a hat trick for the Wildcats. Jose Leyva-Solorio added a pair of goals for Tullahoma in the win, while Kaleb Stroop, Ty Cox and Will Stone each added a score.
It took just six minutes for THS to get on the scoreboard. After Hudson Schaefer played a ball, Ellis was able to capitalize, netting his first goal of the night, putting the Wildcats in front 1-0.
Seven minutes later, Ellis added his second score, after beating the defense, and making it a 2-0 contest. Ellis then completed his hat trick 15 minutes later, after receiving a pass from Garrett Falk, connecting for a goal, giving Tullahoma a 3-0 advantage.
After Community scored with 10 minutes left in the first half, the Wildcats answered with another goal. Off of a corner kick, the Vikings’ goalkeeper was unable to hold on to possession. Stroop seized his chance, getting the ball and finding the back of the net, giving THS a 4-1 halftime advantage.
Out of the break, Leyva-Solorio got the scoring started for Tullahoma with back-to-back goals. He was first able to beat a pair of defenders, wielding his way to a score and giving the Wildcats a 5-1 lead 17 minutes into the second half.
Five minutes later, Leyva-Solorio was able to win the ball near midfield. From that spot, he fired off a shot that connected into the back of the net, putting Tullahoma in front 6-1.
Nearly six minutes later, Cox added his goal. He was able to beat a defender and connect for a score, making it a 7-1 match.
After starting in goal, Stone came out and played forward for Tullahoma. On a clearance, he was able to beat a defender, scoring and putting the Wildcats in front 8-1.
Tullahoma (5-4-1, 1-2) is scheduled to return to District 11-AA play on Thursday, hosting Giles County. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
