Be the Light
K
It is very easy to become caught up in all the darkness of the world right now. Every time you turn on the television there is a resounding noise of hate, violence, perversion and evil. I want to sow a seed into your spirit this week – do not be consumed. I have found myself trying to make sense of the enemy’s work and those he has used to carry it forward, but the farther I try to comprehend the dimmer the light becomes. We must understand that God did not create us to be a witness to the terror of Satan in such tragic and horrific scenes being played out in front of us. As a Christian, we are called to be a light even when the shadows draw near.
The enemy’s schemes are nothing new under the sun, I encourage you to read through Ezekiel this week or re-visit the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis. You will find that many of the horrific things happening in those days are what we are watching unfold today. You are not expected to carry the weight of the afflictions, but to show others hope through a small flame lit within.” Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16.
This may mean that you need to turn off the television, unsubscribe or unplug for a bit to allow God to radiate every area of your life. When we allow darkness in, it can begin slowly dimming the goodness and light of Jesus. This happens not because we internally become evil, but because we choose to make space and focus on Satan’s agenda while trying to fathom this type of wickedness. You can’t. It is because we live in a fallen world filled with pedophiles, jezebel spirits, adulterous spirits, abusers and users that those who walk in light will never call this place home. We all have one walk upon this earth and our one purpose at the end of it all is to lead others to Heaven. That walk is filled with many hard days, triumphs and tragedies but you must keep oil in your lamp.
You must choose to spend time in God’s Word, you must choose joy, you must choose forgiveness…you must choose life! Imagine entering an unfamiliar room filled with darkness – how quickly would you like for a switch to be turned on? There are so many people in your community, workplace, or even home today that need one person to just ignite their flame with an encouraging word about Jesus. Will you be that light? We are not called to save others (that is God’s job), but we are expected to sow a seed. The fire within is your outward seed to the world and those around you that Jesus is our hope….never let it dim. We have so much work yet to accomplish but the days will continue to get grimmer as we draw closer to the return of Christ. I encourage you to be a light keeper in your corner of the world because you too once lived in darkness.
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” Ephesians 5:8

Kayla
