The Wildcats’ bowling team, now in postseason play, kept its season alive. They competed in the Regional tournament and placed second, thus helping them move on to Sectionals.

Summit High School

In the Regional tournament, Tullahoma first took on Summit High School. The Wildcats showed they belonged at this stage in game one of the match with some big opening scores. Producing these numbers were the likes of JT Brooks and Connor Deluceney. The duo combined for 483 pins in the opening game–Deluceney with 226 pins and Brooks with 257 pins. These scores rolled from the two ended up being the two highest scores from anyone in the entirety of the game. Tullahoma, outside of these two bowlers, also had another bowler with over 200 pins in game one, that being Britton Perry. The combination of all their scores and a couple of other Wildcats’ scores led to them having 1,313 pins compared to Summit’s 1,035 in the opening game.

In-game two, the high scores kept pouring in for T-Town. They had three more bowlers having games with over 200 pins—Perry (214), Jordyn Pilkington (202), and Deluceney (211). These scores from the Wildcats gave them the higher pin total again in this game. They had 1,124 pins compared to Summit’s 1,080. Tullahoma ended up winning this match by a score of 17-10. They then advanced to take on Creekwood High School in the Regional Championship.

Creekwood

This match against Creekwood High School was the closest match the Wildcats had all season, as they went on to lose to Creekwood in the Regional Championship, 14-13.

The big scores from the Wildcats’ first match against Summit were still coming, but this time their opponent was matching their firepower. Both Pilkington and Perry had individual games of over 200 in game one, Pilkington with a score of 248 and Perry with 227. On Creekwood’s team, they had three bowlers have scores of over 200, with one of their bowlers rolling a match-high 266. That same bowler from Creekwood rolled a 258 in game two.

In the narrow 14-13 loss for Tullahoma, the pin difference between the two teams was just 16. Creekwood had 2,598 pins, and Tullahoma had 2,582. Tullahoma did all they could to win this match, and while they did not get the championship trophy, they took home a second-place finish and managed to keep their season going. The Wildcats will compete at Sectionals on Jan. 17.
