The free Christmas meal to low income single moms, disabled Veterans, senior citizens and those just lonely on Christmas day has now grown to over 800 meals according to long time organizers Lane and Evelyn Curlee.

This is the 26th year the Curlees have organized the special Christmas meal.

There is a special need in the area of desserts. “It takes a lot of pies, cakes and cookies to provide desserts for 800 people,” said the Curlees. Individuals can drop off desserts Christmas Eve from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Christmas day to Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital.

Another concern according to the Curlees are delivery drivers. All 800 meals are delivered. “Once the 800 meals are packed and ready to go, delivery drivers are needed at 10:30 a.m. at the hospital cafeteria.”

“This a great opportunity to involve your family and deliver meals to several less fortunate families. It’s a rewarding experience to come together with other volunteers and serve others on Christmas morning. The deliveries should only take an hour or so. We need about 40 delivery people.”

The meals are purchased from Morrison Healthcare at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital.

“This effort would not be possible without the great team at Morrison Healthcare who work late on Christmas Eve to prepare the food and a great group of volunteers,” said the Curlees.
