The American Public Power Association (APPA) has recognized Tullahoma Utilities Authority (TUA) with two prestigious national honors: the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) Award and the Excellence in Public Power Communications Award.

These recognitions place TUA among the top-performing public power utilities in the country. Fewer than 150 public power utilities out of more than 2,000 nationwide hold the Smart Energy Provider designation, which highlights a utility’s commitment to energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, sustainability, and customer programs. TUA was also selected as one of only 53 utilities nationally to receive APPA’s Excellence in Public Power Communications Award, which recognizes outstanding creativity, engagement, and effectiveness in utility communication and public outreach.

“These awards reflect far more than programs, technology, or initiatives,” said Allen Potter, TUA President. “They reflect the dedication of the TUA team—men and women who show up every day with pride and a shared purpose. They embody what it means to serve this community. They don’t just keep the lights on, the water flowing, and the fiber connected. They invest in people, they respond in storms, they innovate, they care, and they lead with heart.”

The SEP designation and Communications Award together underscore TUA’s commitment to delivering reliable, innovative, and community-focused service across electric, water, wastewater, and LightTube fiber operations. They highlight the utility’s strong leadership, customer-centered initiatives, and ongoing investment in the future of Tullahoma.

“We understand the responsibility we’ve been entrusted with,” Potter added. “We know what we have been tasked with—powering homes and businesses, supporting growth, strengthening our community, and making Tullahoma a place where families and businesses thrive.
