Veterans parade in Manchester Nov. 8
Coffee County Veterans Association will host its annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony on Saturday, November 8, on Manchester square.
The annual parade will use the same route as the Old Timer’s Day parade and will begin at 10 am. The theme of this year’s parade is “A Salute to the United States Navy” which celebrates its 250th birthday this year.
Parade entries are being taken at this time. There is no fee to register. There will be 3 cash prizes given, through a random drawing, for 3 entries.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at 11 am on Manchester square. Jim Dobson, United States Army – retired and Principal of Westwood Middle School, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s event.
Sophia Conerly, United States Navy – retired, will be this year’s special guest speaker. Conerly, who retired after 21 years as a Commander, was one of the first female naval aviators, to fly and serve, in a combat zone.
Immediately following the ceremony, members of the Coffee County Veterans Association, will head to People’s Bank and Trust, where they will erect over 100 veteran flags, on the lawn in front of the bank. These flags will remain for viewing through Tuesday, November 11th, Veterans Day.
Coffee County Veterans Association consists of American Legion Gold Post 78, Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 90 and All-American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10904.
