Jackie McMillon is releasing a new book titled “A Taste of Southern Fried Pride”. With her beginning cooking at age five, McMillon was inspired by her mother’s great cooking and passion for food to write a book that will feature numerous recipes that encapsulate the culture of the southern region. “Recipes are written with easy to follow instructions,” McMillon said.
The book is over 300 pages and also portrays a journey that offers insight into McMillon’s life and the journey it has been ranging from her southern roots to her traveling across the globe. “This is not a typical recipe book,” McMillon stated, “It’s about mud pies, bees, apple cider, swimming in the water hole, ghosts in the attic, tadpoles and water, and much more.”
She said her world traveling had an impact on her writing but that she has added a southern flair.
“After marrying my husband, I had the honor and privilege of being an Army wife for twenty years, which allowed me to live in Japan, Germany, and England. I experienced many dishes and delights,” she said. “I am an artist, and studied art in England. I have a passion for mixed media and interior design, and landscape art. I started my first enterprise, Designs by Finds, in 2012. My designs are Classic European with a Southern flair.”
A book signing event will be happening with McMillon at the Celtic Cup on Nov. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. The book is available at bookstores along with Amazon under the aforementioned title with a free sample of several pages throughout the book.
