Java Hut helps less fortunate

L

Now through next Friday, Nov. 21, Java Hut, a newly opened Tullahoma coffee house, 301 East Carroll Street, is asking the community to donate five items or more and receive a free standard 16 oz. drink of your choice.

Requested items include canned goods, rice and beans, peanut butter, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, jarred sauce and any shelf-stable items. Donations can be dropped off at either their Tullahoma or Decherd locations. There is no limit to the number of times you can donate.

All donated items will be distributed at the Tullahoma location Saturday, Nov 22 from 1-3 p.m. while supplies last.

According to Java Hut co-owner Haley Vandeford, “We aim to help relieve some strain on local resources and provide additional options for those in need. Some places can only provide food assistance once a month and the distribution days don’t always work with people’s schedules. We are already set up as a double drive-thru so why not distribute the food ourselves.”
