Knowledge is Power

K

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs 1:7. Have you ever thought that the Bible was just too hard to understand?

I believe we have all opened our Bibles only to put them away in weariness because our carnal minds just couldn’t seem to grasp the passage. In the verse above, we are reminded that fear (reverence and respect) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. This fear recognizes what a vast distance there is between what our earthly minds can comprehend and the importance of calling upon the Lord for divine understanding. For example, the last 3 weeks I have been studying the book of Ezekiel – whoa. The word Ezekiel means “God will strengthen you” and is a beautiful account of God coming down from Heaven to deliver the message Himself. His presence is characterized as a great cloud, a fire infolding itself and a brightness the color of amber. “And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.” Ezekiel 1:4.

Can you imagine the glory of God as described in Ezekiel? Our earthly mind cannot begin to grasp the incredible depiction as seen through the eyes of Ezekiel and we may even question this description and innovation throughout this account. But when you become familiar with God’s character, His truth and His power, the words will soon begin to come to life and the impossible will become possible through Him. This example, once you’ve read, is proof that no modernization, amount of wealth, fame or power man has can compare to the glory of our Father. Once you begin to understand that the Lord is beyond comprehension, you will start recognizing the authority you have as a child of God.

Knowledge is power! If you do not attend a church that teaches God’s Word chapter by chapter and verse by verse, I would encourage you to begin your own study right in the midst of your home. What book will your read this week? Our little family just finished up Peter, an encouragement to believers in times of persecution and a reminder of our roles in the Kingdom. Once slowed down and with the help of the Holy Spirit, the books of Peter were simple enough for even our children to understand – I pray that encourages you. Never fall captive to the lie of the enemy that you can’t understand the Bible! We are blessed to have the answers to every issue, circumstance and difficultly ever to be faced in our personal lives and across the globe – of course the devil would want you to be deceived.

Don’t overcomplicate this beautiful journey my friend, embrace the Bible with anticipation and joy as God speaks through those black and red letters. You have 66 books to choose – may the excitement overshadow insecurity as you dive right in this week! I pray you take the limitations off God, dust off that Bible and allow His light to shine as fire and His wisdom to change your life for the good.

“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth comet knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6.

Blessings,

Kayla
