Coffee County farmer and Soil and Water Conservation Board Chairman Ray Weaver was recognized as an individual whose unwavering dedication, leadership, and tireless service have left an indelible mark on conservation efforts at every level.
Weaver, of the Calls Community, was celebrated as the recipient of the 2025 Southeast Outstanding Conservation District Official/Board Member Award, a nominee whose journey spans over 25 years of service on the District Board, including nine years as Chairman. Under his leadership, the District has impacted more than 236,000 acres through nearly 800 conservation contracts, leveraging over $30 million in cost-share funding. These efforts have directly improved soil health, water quality, and agricultural sustainability across the region.
Weaver has not only implemented best management practices on their own family farm—now in its fourth generation—but has also championed innovation by encouraging the use of no-till drills, cover crops, and multi-purpose seeders. Their forward-thinking approach led to the formation of an Animal Waste Utilization Association, benefiting farmers and protecting natural resources across multiple districts.
At the state level, he has served as President of the State Conservation Association, Vice President, Area Director, and Committee Chair. He has collaborated with state agencies to secure funding, led statewide conventions, and ensured that District Employees and Board Members are empowered and engaged.
Regionally and nationally, he has served on multiple committees, participated in legislative fly-ins, and represented their state on the National Association Board. As a National Soil Health Champion, he and his family continue to advocate for sustainable practices and serve as an ambassador for conservation across the country.
Beyond professional achievements, Ray’s commitment to community service is equally inspiring. From mentoring youth through 4-H and supporting farmers markets, to leading church outreach and serving on agricultural boards, this individual embodies the spirit of stewardship and civic engagement.
The Tennessee District Employees Association along with the Coffee County Soil & Water Conservation District were proud to nominate Ray Weaver for this award and recognition. He and his family’s legacy is one of impact, integrity, and inspiration.
