Tullahoma Area USBC donates over $5,600 to local nonprofits

The Tullahoma Area United States Bowling Congress (USBC) recently made a donation to six local charities totaling to over $5,600.
The donation presentations were held at Tullahoma Lanes on Saturday, Oct. 11, where the Tullahoma Area USBC gathered for its meeting where it elected its officers for the upcoming season, honor its Bowlers of the Year and to make the donation presentations.
According to Holly Petty, the president of the Tullahoma Area USBC, the donations came from 50/50 tickets sold throughout the year, where 50% of whatever was sold was returned to the winning ticket holder, while the other 50% was saved for donations to the Charity of the Month. This year, there were six charities, where each got two months of the year as beneficiaries. It was added that there were leagues buying tickets every night of the regular week.
Each of the six organizations received $935.55, which totaled to $5,613.30. This year’s recipients included: Multi-County Cancer Support Network, Hospice of the Highland Rim, Shepherd’s House, Tullahoma Middle School Bowling Team, Tullahoma High School Bowling Team and the Franklin County High School Bowling Team.
The Tullahoma Area USBC also announce its Bowlers of the Year, where each recipient received a pullover jersey. In the scratch category were Hayden Gunter and Jennifer Garner, while in the handicap category was Eugene Weddington and Amy Clark.
