Blood Assurance to host 11th annual Heroes Golf Tournament Friday

Blood Assurance is gearing up for its 11th annual Heroes Golf Tournament, happening this Friday, Sept. 12, at Lakewood Golf and Country Club in Tullahoma.
The tournament benefits Blood Assurance’s Heroes Grant, established in memory of Crystal Green. A graduate of Dade County High School and student at Georgia Southern University, Crystal was diagnosed with aplastic anemia and endured hundreds of hours of platelet transfusions and a bone marrow transplant before passing away in November 1998, shortly after her 21st birthday.
To honor her legacy of perseverance and community spirit, Blood Assurance created a scholarship fund in her name. Today, the Heroes Grant continues that mission by providing funding to high schools that host blood drives with Blood Assurance. Schools receive grants based on the number of units collected.
While team sign-ups for this year’s golf tournament are closed, donations to support the Heroes Grant are welcome. Blood Assurance also encourages schools to get involved as the nonprofit offers special grant programs for elementary schools, middle schools and colleges:

The Heroes Golf Tournament will begin with lunch at 10:45 a.m. CST, followed by a shotgun start at noon. Lakewood Golf and Country Club is located at 1900 Country Club Drive.
