Two Tullahoma alumni remain undefeated in college football

Grant Chadwick, and the LSU Tigers, and Jakobe Thomas, and the Miami Hurricanes, are both still undefeated through four weeks of the college football season. Through their team’s success, the two former Tullahoma Wildcats have played major parts in their teams notching up all wins and no losses.

Jakobe Thomas

Jakobe Thomas is not only on an undefeated team in the Miami Hurricanes, but with the latest rankings, they are ranked as the number two team in the country. They have been steady and consistent throughout the whole season, beating every opponent in their path breezily. Their last two wins were against a ranked South Florida team and the University of Florida, who were ranked in their game, before taking on the Hurricanes. In those two matchups, Miami proved they are more than worthy of being the number two team in the country, winning the two games by an average of 28 points per game.

Thomas had a big sack in the team’s latest game against the Gators. So far through the 2025 season, he has a total of 15 tackles, already nearing his total in the 2024 season with the TN Vols, where he recorded 22 tackles.

Grant Chadwick

The LSU Tigers are 4-0 for the first time in a long time, and head coach of the Tigers Brian Kelly went out of his way to shout out former Tullahoma punter Grant Chadwick after LSU took down Florida, winning 20-10.

“Grant Chadwick was outstanding. Sorry, that doesn’t sound appealing to you folks, but I really don’t care. We are trying to win football games, we flipped the field position, I think he had four inside the 20, he was our weapon on offense today, and that is how we needed to win the game,” said LSU head coach Kelly.

The Tigers had a lot of uncertainty at their punter position in 2024. They interchanged between two punters during the season. Now in 2025, they seem to have found their guy of the future in Chadwick, who is only a sophomore. He is currently 21st in the nation in punting average and has a total of seven punts inside the 20-yard line.

He and the Tigers will look to build off of their latest win against Southeastern Louisiana when they play undefeated Ole Miss on Sept. 27.
