For over 20 years, Tullahoma City Schools has hosted a Convocation just prior to the start of the new school year. This year’s Convocation was held July 24th in the Tullahoma High School auditorium. Over 500 teachers, faculty and staff attended.

A highlight of the annual event is the reverse draw when an award-winning teacher has the opportunity to drive a new car for a year compliments of the Stan McNabb Automotive Family.

Nine “Teachers of the Year”, one from each elementary, middle, virtual academy and two from THS are asked to the stage.  Through a reverse draw process, one by one a teacher is eliminated from the draw.  The last teacher standing receives the car.

This year’s winner is Erin Martin, a kindergarten teacher at Robert E Lee Elementary school.  Mrs. Martin will be driving a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L for the next year compliments of the Stan McNabb Automotive Family.

The Stan McNabb Automotive Family has been providing a car for a “Teacher of the Year” for 13 years.

When contacted, the winner, Mrs. Martin, said, “The experience was unbelievable……very exciting.  We are all so appreciative of the McNabb family doing this and showing their support for teachers.  We are definitely enjoying this brand new car.  Everyone at the dealership has been so helpful.”

According to Trent McNabb, VP and an owner of the Stan McNabb Automotive Family, “this is our way to give back and recognize a deserving teacher.  Teachers are the backbone of the future of Tullahoma.  The process to determine the winner is very exciting and we appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the Convocation. “

McNabb continued, “My mother and one of my grandmothers were teachers and we understand and respect the role teachers play in our lives and community.”

“We value the partnership with the McNabbs and the giveaway is always special and something the staff looks forward to each year.  Tullahoma City Schools appreciates the continued partnership and all they do for our schools,” said Zach Birdsong, Communication Specialist for Tullahoma City Schools.

The purpose of the Convocation is to welcome back teachers, faculty and staff for the upcoming school year.  Convocation is a way to energize, inspire, celebrate and appreciate staff members.
